Carney Gate, also referred to as Main Gate, is the primary 24/7 access point for Fleet Activities Yokosuka. The gate honors Admiral Robert B. Carney, who served as Chief of Naval Operations during the Eisenhower administration.
Getting to Carney Gate
- From the Keikyu Line: 15-minute walk from Yokosuka-chuo Station (East Exit) through the Honcho District, or about 10- to 12-minute walk from Shioiri Station.
- From JR East: Roughly 20 minutes on foot from JR Yokosuka Station, along Route 16 or via the Verny Park seaside walkway.
- By vehicle: Accessible directly off National Route 16 at the Main Gate intersection.
Visitor & Vehicle Processing
The Visitor Control Center (VCC) is outside Carney Gate. Please note, there is no parking for the VCC. The turn lane outside the VCC is not a legal stopping area and may be subject to ticketing at the discretion of local police.
