Verny Pedestrian Gate (also known as Verny Gate) is named after Léonce Verny, a French officer and naval engineer who led the construction of the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal in the 19th Century. Verny Pedestrian Gate is also within walking distance of the City of Yokosuka’s Verny Park.
Verny Pedestrian Gate is also referred to as Coaska Gate. It has previously been called AEON Gate and Daiei Gate depending on the shopping center’s operator.
Outbound foot traffic is always available through the turnstile. You can exit through Verny Gate on foot at any hour of any day, including when inbound is closed.
Verny Gate is pedestrian only. There is no vehicle lane. Vehicle traffic must use Carney Gate or Womble Gate.
Carney Gate is the installation’s main gate. It is the only gate providing 24/7 access to Main Base. It is also where CFAY Security Visitor Control Center is located and the quarterdeck.
Womble Gate, sometimes referred to as Back Gate and Yokosuka Side Gate is the other Main Base vehicle gate. Womble Gate is near Kanagawa Dental University and closest to Keikyu Yokosuka-chuo Station.
Getting to Verny Pedestrian Gate
Verny Pedestrian Gate is at the end of the Verny Park Walkway, which runs in front of Coaska Bayside Stores and through Verny Park. The walkway dead-ends at both ends: one at JR Yokosuka Station, the other at the gate. The walkway also connects to the National Route 16 Pedestrian Overpass for anyone using Keikyu Shioiri Station, which is across the street from the mall.
Many commuters from Ikego Hills Family Housing Area use Jimmuji Gate, the pedestrian gate between Ikego Hills and Keikyu Jimmuji Station, to connect to Keikyu Shioiri Station.
Verny Pedestrian Gate is also a seven-minute walk from JR Yokosuka Station.
Visitor & Vehicle Processing
The Visitor Control Center (VCC) is outside Carney Gate. Please note, there is no parking for the VCC. The turn lane outside the VCC is not a legal stopping area and may be subject to ticketing at the discretion of local police.
