Womble Gate, sometimes referred to as Back Gate or Side Gate, serves as the secondary vehicle and pedestrian access point for Fleet Activities Yokosuka. Womble Gate is named in honor of Rear Admiral John P. Womble Jr. As a Commodore, Womble facilitated the shore-establishment organization that formally transitioned into the operational command known today as Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka.
Getting to Womble Gate
Womble Gate is located near Kanagawa Dental University, U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka, and Navy Gateway Inns.
- From the Keikyu Line: Womble Gate is approximately 15-minutes walking distance from Keikyu Yokosuka-chūō Station.
- By vehicle: Accessible off National Route 16.
Visitor & Vehicle Processing
The Visitor Control Center (VCC) is outside Carney Gate. Please note, there is no parking for the VCC. The turn lane outside the VCC is not a legal stopping area and may be subject to ticketing at the discretion of local police.
